Quarter 2, Week 4 –Unchanging Values in the VUCA World

This week we tackle aboout the Unchanging Values in the VUCA World. This week we define the different meaning and importance of Literature. What is Literature? Well...Literature is any collections of written works, but it's also used more narrowly for writing specifically to be an art form, especially prose fiction, drama, and poetry. We also encountered the word "Etymological" I learned that it means origin or the history of the word. We learned about where did literature came from, It came from a Latin word Literatura/ Litteratura. We also review the words we had for our spelling bee and reviewed the anglo- american in focus which is Mr.Henry James, the American-British author. Quarter 2, Week 3 – Factors Influencing a Selection

This week we discussed about the Factors Influencing a Selection. This topic helps us explain how a selection may be influenced by culture, history, environment, and other factors. The factors given that influence a selection are Text and Culture, Text and History, Text and enviroment. This week we also given a spelling bee to help us notice and understand words that are sometimes used, we learned about the words; Chyme, foulard, rhythm, repertoire, and etc. We also have our Anglo-American Icon in focus Walter Witman, is an American poet, essayist and journalist, he is also a humanist that was part of transition between transcendentalism and realism. Whitman is among the most influential poets in the American canon, often called the father of free verse. Quarter 2, Week 2 – Making Connections

This week we discussed Making Connections. We discussed the three types of Making Connections to Text; Text-to-self connections, Text-to-text connections, and Text-to-world connections. We also read the poem "Footprints in the Sand" that show connection and ask for so ideas so our teacher will know the level of our knowledge about this topic. We also show the questions that concern each type of connection. About the activities, we are given a quiz for us to challenge our understanding of our topic connection and also given a performance task to fulfill like making a blog every week. One of the types of making a connection to text is the Text-to-self connection that is the personal connections that you make between yourself and the selection you are dealing with, while Text-to-Text connections are connections where you relate one material to another that you have read or have already come across.
