Quarter 2, Week 8 – Adverbs

For week 8 our topic is Adverbs. In this topic, we discussed adverbs and the types of adverbs. What is Adverb?, Adverbs describe adjectives and other adverbs. There are types of adverbs which are; Adverb of Time, Adverb of Manner, Adverb of Place, Adverb of Degree, and Adverb of Frequency. We also learned how to identify adverbs and what are the positions of adverbs in a sentence. I learned that learning types of adverbs make my understanding clear and nice. knowing the types of adverbs makes our questions answered like what do we use when we questioned when. The learning task given to us is easy to understand. The tasks like choosing the letter of the correct answer, identifying the adverbs used, and what type of adverbs are being used.

Quarter 2, Week 7 – Interjections

In week 7 our topic is all about interjection. For others who don't know what interjection is, Interjection is the word used to express particular expressions or emotions. We have learned 8 types of Interjection; Interjections for Greeting, Interjections for Joy, Interjections for Approval, Interjections for Attention, Interjections for Suprise, Interjections for Sorrow, Interjections for Understanding/Misunderstanding, and Other Interjections. Based on what we learned some examples of Interjections are; Aah, Ahh, Aww, Bingo, Eh, Eww, Wow, Hey, Well, What, Hurrah, Hmph, Oh, Oops, Ouch, Shh, Uh oh, Whew, Yay/Yaay, Yeah, Yikes, Yippee, etc. Other Interjections include Interjections of Anger /Annoyance /Frustration /Disappointment/Dismissive. Our Task for week 7 is easy as well as the topic given to us. Quarter 2, Week 6 – Rules in Capitalization and Use of Punctuation Marks

In this week we have our Flag Ceremony, Prayer, and some stretching. This week we discussed the Rules of Capitalization and the Use of Punctuation Marks. In this week we didn't have our Spelling and the Anglo-American Icon. We first discussed the rules of Capitals; We need to use a capital letter in all proper nouns, names of events and time, names of organizations/institutions, and government bodies, we need to write nationalities, race, and religion in capital letters. In titles, we capitalize the title of a person when it comes before a name. We discussed the second topic which is the Use of Punctuation Marks. We have different types and use of Punctuation Marks; First, we have the Period that is used or placed at the end of declarative and imperative sentences, next is the Question Mark that is used to indicate a direct question, next is Exclamation point it is used to convey strong emotions or excitements, next is the Comma that is used to show the separation of ideas o...

In this week we had our spelling bee words like cappuccino, machinist, fission, etc. We also had our Anglo-American Literature Icon which is John Ronald Reuel Tolkien. John Ronald Reuel Tolkien was an English writer, a poet, He is best known as the author of "The High Fantasy Works" "The Hobbit" and"The Lord of The Rings". He is also identified as the Father of Modern Fantasy Literature. We had our figure of speech in focus, Hyperbole. Hyperbole is a figure of speech of exaggerated statements or claims used to make a point or show emphasis, but are not meant to be taken literally. Quarter 2, Week 4 –Unchanging Values in the VUCA World

This week we tackle aboout the Unchanging Values in the VUCA World. This week we define the different meaning and importance of Literature. What is Literature? Well...Literature is any collections of written works, but it's also used more narrowly for writing specifically to be an art form, especially prose fiction, drama, and poetry. We also encountered the word "Etymological" I learned that it means origin or the history of the word. We learned about where did literature came from, It came from a Latin word Literatura/ Litteratura. We also review the words we had for our spelling bee and reviewed the anglo- american in focus which is Mr.Henry James, the American-British author. Quarter 2, Week 3 – Factors Influencing a Selection

This week we discussed about the Factors Influencing a Selection. This topic helps us explain how a selection may be influenced by culture, history, environment, and other factors. The factors given that influence a selection are Text and Culture, Text and History, Text and enviroment. This week we also given a spelling bee to help us notice and understand words that are sometimes used, we learned about the words; Chyme, foulard, rhythm, repertoire, and etc. We also have our Anglo-American Icon in focus Walter Witman, is an American poet, essayist and journalist, he is also a humanist that was part of transition between transcendentalism and realism. Quarter 2, Week 2 – Making Connections

This week we discussed Making Connections. We discussed the three types of Making Connections to Text; Text-to-self connections, Text-to-text connections, and Text-to-world connections. We also read the poem "Footprints in the Sand" that show connection and ask for so ideas so our teacher will know the level of our knowledge about this topic. We also show the questions that concern each type of connection. About the activities, we are given a quiz for us to challenge our understanding of our topic connection and also given a performance task to fulfill like making a blog every week. One of the types of making a connection to text is the Text-to-self connection that is the personal connections that you make between yourself and the selection you are dealing with, while Text-to-Text connections are connections where you relate one material to another that you have read or have already come across.
